Are You Afraid To Just Be You?

Are You Afraid to Just Be YOU? by Donna R. Rutherford

How many times have you hesitated about trying a new endeavor? How long has it been since you seriously thought about making a change in your life? What’s holding you back? Are you more concerned about what your friends or family will think? You’ve been holding onto that bucket list for five years now. You review it once a month just to make sure it’s still there. Do you seek the approval of others first instead of JUST BEING YOU? If a person is not careful, it would be easy for anyone to fall into that trap. There’s nothing wrong with asking for someone’s opinion, but don’t let their opinion cause you to question your security. Don’t let their opinion change who you really are. I’m not talking about moral issues. That’s a different subject. I’m referring to simple matters such as a change in hairstyle, a preference in fashion, a desire to study abroad, changing jobs, start a business, pursuing your passion, travel, etc. Think about it. If you want to cut your hair, or change the color, do it! Even best friends sometimes agree that their taste in fashion may be different. But it doesn’t mean they will belittle each other for being different. Hopefully, they will recognize the uniqueness in each other, and respect it. Who wants to be a copycat of someone else, anyway? That’s BORING! Don’t allow the insecurities and fears of others keep you in a box. Keep you stuck. Likewise, don’t let the opinion of others keep you from pursuing what the Lord Jesus Christ has put in your heart to do.

He Has Called You

He Has Called You by Donna R. Rutherford

The truth of the matter is, He has called you. That’s right. Jesus Christ has called you. For this job, He said, “I WANT YOU.” Why are you still seeking approval from others? Why are you constantly trying to find excuses for not stepping into your greatness? Would it matter more to receive confirmation from your crew?

You are unique. There is no one like you. Get that through your head. Let it settle in your spirit. You are a messenger of Good News. Don’t box God in. Let Him decide how it should be delivered. God has a special plan and purpose created just for you. This is your journey. Father God has already written the script. Look no further. The Word of God over your life is your final authority.

Be excited about what God is doing. Don’t be afraid of where He is taking you. He’s right there with you.

It Is Well

Gracious Reflections …

IT IS WELL! by Donna R. Rutherford

I hear this phrase many times when I ask someone how they are doing: “I’m blessed and highly favored,” or “It is well. All is well.” Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with saying those things, if you really believe it. Sometimes a person can speak those words so many times, it becomes a habit, a cliché, just something to say without any substance. For those of us who are facing ongoing struggles, disappointments, or broken promises, do you really believe IT IS WELL? What do you do when God does not move the mountain you’re facing? Can you still say IT IS WELL? How do you respond when your family doesn’t give you the support you need? Do you still love them anyway, and say IT IS Well? What do you do when a brother or sister in Christ is the one gossiping about you? Do you still love and pray for them, and say IT IS WELL? Only you can answer these questions. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with God. He already knows, but He wants you to confront yourself. Let all of us stop going through life just speaking a cute saying for the sake of speaking it. Take inventory. Examine yourself. It’s time for us to get off milk and become mature Christians that eat meat.
